History of Beverly Price’s Career in Eating Disorders Treatment
I was one of the first registered dietitians in the country that owned and operated a nutrition private nutrition practice. In my practice, I treated patients with eating disorders in collaboration with psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and internists.
When I sold my private practice, I did not step away from patient treatment for too long. Following a yoga teacher training where I completed a project on yoga and eating disorders, I then re-entered private practice that started with nutrition and yoga discussion groups that organically emerged into a fully staffed, multidisciplinary team. My facility was a Joint Commission and state-licensed comprehensive eating disorders treatment center offering partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, along with outpatient services.
My membership and involvement in iaedp have afforded me the opportunity to meet eating disorders treatment professionals from around the world and become a regular presenter at the annual iaedp symposiums and contributor to iaedp Member Share blog. I am also involved in the COMC Connection, Outreach, and Mentoring Committee (COMC) and a member of the Heartland iaedp Chapter.
I have supervised many dietitians individually and in groups, along with providing supervision to the Australia & New Zealand Academy (ANZAED) of Eating Disorders members.
Some of my other eating disorders article contributions and interviews have been included in We are Diabetes, Eating Disorder Hope, Gurze publications and other outlets. These are featured on my blog.
